Arctic Circle (Finland) and Rovaniemi

Of course we had to cross the arctic circle again if you head south:



And in Finland that is where he lives:


So they built a theme park around Santa Claus. But of course also Santa travels more modern now ;-)





Everything seems to be a big souvenir shop. (Or a restaurant):




No, we won't be home tomorrow ;-)


But overall a fun place.


About 10 km to the south is Rovaniemi. Rovaniemi is something like the capital of Lapland and has approx. 60,000 of population.

Due to some incorporations, Rovaniemi  is 8000 (!) square kilometers big. This makes this city the biggest one in Europe.

It houses e.g. the "Arktikum", a museum and scientific center:


 There are several exibitions.
